About the role
- Technical Design Associate at Coach responsible for handbags and leathergoods technical design. Collaborating on product development and ensuring design integrity through commercialization process.
Responsibilities
- Leverage proficiency in Technical Design to communicate technical information
- Maintain all elements of a Design Card through the development process
- Review samples for corrections including aesthetics, dimensions, hand feel, functionality, and workmanship
- Create and maintain full-scale technical construction sketches and accurate information on design cards
- Maintain established standards, details and integrity of the product
- Building silhouette templates for commercialization
- Create CADs for color options to support design and merchandising needs
- Identify, clearly define, and resolve technical issues while partnering with the PD team
Requirements
- 3+ years work experience in technical design with focus on handbags/leathergoods
- Thorough understanding of the design & development process from inception through production, including product construction and engineering
- Proficient knowledge of industry construction standards and manufacturing, including materials (hardware, leather, fabric)
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; ability to CAD in fast-paced environment
- Keen attention to detail, initiative, and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and be flexible in a fast-paced environment
- Able to adhere to tight deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and resourcefulness
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working with pattern makers and overseas partners
- Have a positive attitude and team-player mentality.
