Responsibilities
- Assigning accurate and timely clinical codes to patient episodes of care through analysis of patient record documentation
- Using the appropriate version of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Australian Modification (ICD10AM)
- Applying Australian Coding Standards and relevant State Coding authority advice
- Involved with ongoing training and education sessions
- Participate in ongoing audits
Requirements
- Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Information Management) or equivalent, or Clinical Coding qualifications from HIMAA or equivalent
- Accurate and timely coding of patient records using ICD 10 AM
- At least two years clinical coding experience
- Previous experience with 3M Codefinder software
- Experience in clinical coding across a range of DRGs with demonstrated high quality coding skills
- Up to date knowledge of Clinical Coding guidelines and Australian Coding Standards
- Prepared to participate in performance and quality improvement activities
