About the role

  • Senior Project Architect at Stantec leading healthcare design projects and collaborating with teams on project delivery. Engaging with clients and driving business development in Arizona.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for projects of large and medium complexity/size.
  • Positioning Stantec as a thought-leader and problem-solver to clients, institutions and influencers
  • Curating and communicating the Stantec story and understanding key projects (national / regional / local), speaking knowledgeably about the firm/region/office/sector capabilities, including industry insights and best practices
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with prospective clients and collaborators for relevant market sectors and all integrated practices areas
  • Supporting the local leadership in the development and execution of annual promotional strategy for Stantec, including presence at local professional organizations, conferences and events
  • Maintaining and developing a local network of proven and reliable sources of information on current and prospective clients
  • Researching new and prospective clients and opportunities for strategic growth and being knowledgeable about market sector issues and trends within the local market
  • Collaborating with market sector experts, office leaders, sector operation managers, sector marketing managers, and pursuit teams to communicate BD/client intelligence
  • Understanding competitive local differentiators and perspectives to better position Page, now Stantec against the competition
  • Collaborating with market sector leaders and office leadership to ensure that a Go/No Go process is conducted for each pursuit and that the appropriate team members participate in the decision-making process; conducting research to confirm that leads are qualified as “winnable”
  • Participating in key pursuits, including advising on content decisions for proposals (team/consultants, projects), reviewing drafts at key milestones and any other preparations leading up to interview
  • Participating in local debriefs; documenting and disseminating outcomes to appropriate parties and developing strategies for corrective actions to promote future successes
  • Being an actively engaged and visible member in the AEC industry
  • Inspire creativity, critical thought, and design excellence both internally and externally.
  • Conceptualizes a building design from both a functional and aesthetic perspective in concert with a client’s requirements, budget and program.
  • Develop a design through in collaboration with a team via mediums such as sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats to express the design intent and communicate to project team, client, and building user groups.
  • Utilizes BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
  • Participate in design critiques and constructability reviews.
  • Present the design with the Project Manager and collaborating Design Architect to stakeholders during early project phases. Develops building design in accordance with cost parameters.
  • Evaluate and select building systems and materials.
  • Coordinate building systems to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
  • Implement sustainable design principles into the design and environment.
  • Analyze site incorporating geotechnical, hydrological, environmental, social, economic and contextual conditions.
  • Participate in development of the program and other pre-design efforts.
  • Ensure that design intent is maintained through documentation and construction.
  • Responsible for leading others in project team setting and design critiques and pin-ups.

Requirements

  • Produce and deliver design and documentation in highly collaborative BIM strategy.
  • Strong knowledge of building construction systems, constructability, materials, and industry associated standards.
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects.
  • Prepares and ensures that work conforms to project budget, schedule, and overall work planning.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Newforma, Bluebeam, Recent modeling software; Prefer experience with 3D Printer, Laser cutter.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
  • Licensed Architect in California is ideal
  • Minimum 10 years of experience, preferably on large teams with healthcare or institutional clients.
  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred.
