About the role

  • Project Manager supporting the US Federal government’s Military Program planning, design, and construction of facilities and infrastructure. Coordinating with internal teams and external entities for project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing complex tasks on medium to large size projects.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs the work throughout the life of the project to successfully deliver the project to the client.
  • Keeps the Principal in Charge informed of progress on project expectations, deadlines, and deliverables and understands the limits of the decision-making responsibilities of the role and respects the boundaries of the Principal in Charge’s responsibilities.
  • Leads the client and project team to assure that the project design meets the client budget, schedule, program, and design intent.
  • Assists in the negotiation and development of project agreements.
  • Develops and manages project budget, schedule, and overall work plan to realize target financial performance.
  • Mentors Assistant Project Managers and motivates project teams.
  • Assures that Stantec’s Project Management Framework tasks are timely completed and properly documented.
  • Leads project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractors.
  • Manages and tracks change orders, applications for payment by contractors and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule.
  • Works with local leadership in determining project staffing needs and recommending personnel.
  • Directs client invoicing and effectively manages collections.
  • Travel to projects in other states for client meetings and site visits. Travel by air and car required.

Requirements

  • Architect (Registered Architect) certification/registration
  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and team building skills
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and across BOUs, and to engage in creative and critical thought
  • Capacity to communicate clearly via phone, email, technical writing and in-person to internal and external clients
  • Passion for military facilities and infrastructure projects and delivering on the Department of Defense’s Military Programs Mission
  • Available for intermittent travel
  • United States citizen or permanent US resident
  • Possesses excellent time management skills, thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and resources
  • Experience in management, design, and construction of military facilities and infrastructure projects for the US Department of Defense
  • Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation
  • Experience with Alternative Project Delivery (design-build, P3)
  • Leadership experience including program and project management
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) of Architecture / Bachelor of Architecture (B.A.) degree, or a related degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of design and project management experience
  • Professionally accredited degree in Architecture
  • LEED accredited, Guiding Principles Compliance Professional (GPCP), Green Globes Professional (GGP), Wellness, or other sustainable professional is preferred
  • Detailed knowledge of building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards
  • Ability to hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively
  • Ability to apply accessibility codes, applicable building codes, and life-safety codes to a wide variety of project scopes and complexity
  • Ability to oversee development of building documentation in modeling/drafting software (Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD)
  • Prefer working knowledge of specialized software such as Navisworks, SpecsIntact, BSD SpecLink, and Microsoft Planner or other scheduling software
  • Strong experience with general software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, BlueBeam, Powerpoint, etc.)
  • Ability to check work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage team to meet project budget and schedule
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong understanding of project financials
  • Adaptable to various project delivery methods, Design Build, IPD, Design Bid Build, etc.
