About the role

  • Manual Test Engineer responsible for testing and ensuring software quality in government projects. Collaborating with stakeholders and delivering impactful quality assurance services.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and coordination of all testing activities
  • Analysing test requirements, designing and producing reusable test scripts.
  • Creating and managing test regression packs.
  • Creating and managing test data to support the planning and execution of test scripts.
  • Overcoming obstacles, such as working with the team on clarification of requirements or seeing bugs through to resolution to deliver quality testing on time.
  • Reviewing test artefacts produced by peers.
  • Analysing test results and updating test suites as needed to ensure accuracy and coverage.
  • Identifying, documenting, and tracking defects to resolution while ensuring root cause analysis is conducted and preventive measures are implemented.
  • Responsible for defect management and triage
  • Executing test scripts from plans and accurately reporting where requirements are not being met.
  • Defining and implementing key test KPIs to ensure high quality standards are achieved
  • Managing key stakeholders, developing and managing ongoing relationships.
  • Advocating for best practices in testing and quality assurance, driving continuous improvement in testing processes and outcomes.
  • Reporting on test progression with key stakeholders
  • Contributing to release, deployment and change planning.
  • Awareness of the CI/CD pipeline and integration tools such as jenkins and github
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Agile methodologies

Requirements

  • Proven experience of Functional Testing: running and managing appropriate tests to ensure requirements are met.
  • Previous use of Azure DevOps, JIRA, or similar tool for testing and requirements management
  • Previous experience working with and testing COTS products.
  • Ability to identify, research and implement effective testing techniques and tools.
  • Very strong communicator in raising, managing issues and defects to stakeholders.
  • Experience in creating and managing Test Data.
  • Proven experience of defining and implementing test improvement strategies.
  • Experience with Delivery and Technologies ideally across the Government domain
  • Ability to manage multiple resources and allocate workload
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to evolving objectives, excelling under pressure.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience of strong stakeholder management in prominent high paced environments.
  • Experience in supporting and mentoring junior team members.
  • Proven experience of improving processes, setting strategy, delivering improvements, maintaining a quality service, and driving change.
