About the role

Hydraulic Engineer managing industrial project lifecycle from design to field operation at SMS Group. Leading global engineering interfaces and ensuring robust, safe solutions.

Responsibilities

Be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the hydraulic project, from technical conception and component calculations to supervising assembly and testing of hydraulic units.
Produce detailed hydraulic schematics using CAD software and specialized hydraulic simulation tools.
Perform calculations for the selection of critical components, ensuring the system meets requirements for force, speed and torque.
Determine pump types (gear, vane or piston) and required displacement, as well as sizing cylinders and hydraulic motors.
Specify the valves required for each project.
Review designs and information produced by the team, following the standard checklist and making adjustments as needed.
Prepare technical reports based on information collected in the field.
Provide support for detailing activities when necessary.
Prepare technical specifications for the purchasing department.
Monitor the manufacturing and assembly processes of projects developed by our engineering team or third parties in our factories.
Prepare operation and maintenance manuals for equipment.
Perform equipment commissioning.
Participate in meetings with suppliers to resolve questions during the fabrication of project components.
Participate in meetings with clients to gather project-relevant information.
Support SMS sales teams in preparing basic designs for sales proposals and in the preparation of technical proposals.
Develop technical activities in collaboration with other SMS Group units worldwide.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Deep knowledge of the operation and integration of hydraulic units, including reservoirs, hydraulic motors and filtration systems.
Advanced knowledge of hydraulic calculations.
Experience in industrial hydraulic projects.
Availability for field work as required by the project.
Genuine interest in technology and ongoing technical development.
Experience with electronic control systems integrated with hydraulics.
Knowledge of predictive maintenance and fluid contamination analysis.
Fluent English (interaction with global units).
Courses in the manufacturing of metallurgical equipment.
Technical training in Mechanical, Electrical or Automation disciplines.
