About the role

  • Engineering Technician Senior resolving engineering problems and providing solutions related to electronic systems. Working closely with teams on technical analyses and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the best value resolution for each problem as warranted and provide a recommended course of action, along with viable alternatives, for the customer’s consideration.
  • Develop reports documenting problem data, analyses, and recommended solutions including supporting rationale.
  • Interpret engineering data, specifications, drawings, Technical Orders, spreadsheets, and be able to analyze, test, and report on trends, significant patterns, or boundaries as related to electronics, mechanical systems, or building complex electronic systems.
  • Accurately read engineering drawings, architectural plans, and specifications to analyze research, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures to complete the task.
  • Perform broad assignments requiring schedule/cost planning, project execution, and reporting.
  • Test Electronics Apply Technical Orders (TO) and ATE self-test programs to systematically identify/repair ATE failures.
  • Perform technical research necessary to define solutions for modernization or replacement of aging or obsolete equipment.
  • Plan, design, and fabricate test equipment to be used in initial testing of electronic systems and equipment.
  • Manufacture and repair hybrid microelectronics and perform various semi-automated and manual diagnostic testing on hybrid microcircuits.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to customer management and interested parties.
  • Assist with the design and fabrication of electrical assemblies to be used in electrical power applications for production and administrative systems and equipment.
  • Research specifications and electrical component requirements to supplement acquisition activities for modernization, repair, and/or replacement of aging or obsolete equipment distribution and power systems.
  • Accurately read schematics, troubleshoot electrical circuits, and repair electrical distribution circuits.
  • Interface with, and provide guidance to, safety officials on electrical safety issues.
  • Troubleshoot multi- voltage, multi-frequency (480/277V, 208/120V,199/115V 400Hz, 28 VDC) electrical distribution systems and prepare and maintain facility electrical documentation in AutoCAD and prepare design drawings.
  • Determine design requirements in support of facility construction projects, provide feedback on design drawings, and provide oversight of electrical construction projects.
  • Research specifications and mechanical component requirements to supplement acquisition activities for modernization and/or replacement of aging or obsolete equipment or components.
  • Perform in-depth technical analysis to resolve issues pertaining to mechanical problems on specified weapons systems.
  • Set up and operate equipment used in the fabrication of jigs, fixtures, and other mechanical assemblies.
  • Provide recommendations for repair of Utility Infrastructure equipment and control systems.
  • Work with engineers and technicians in the design, maintenance, and repair of Utility Infrastructure equipment and controls.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED OR a technical school degree/certificate in a scientific, engineering, or technical field.
  • Eight (8) years’ experience in a scientific, engineering, or technical field of which three (3) years shall be in direct support of electronic engineering activities/functions.
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license when required by job assignment.
  • Must obtain a valid government driver’s license when required by job assignment.
  • Must obtain a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) to include hazardous material endorsement when required by job assignment.
  • Must obtain the level of Industrial Security Clearance required by the Government.
  • Required knowledge of standard engineering methods, practices and techniques used in an electronic environment as well as knowledge of the operation, function and application of test equipment and instrumentation used for automatic testing of electronic systems and components including associated software.
  • Knowledge of energy conservation practices is required.
  • Possess a working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and relevant Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE) standards for powering industrial and electronic equipment, as well as industry and government electrical safety practices, including OSHA requirements.
  • Knowledge of the proper disposal of Hazardous Wastes (HW), as well as experience in transporting HW and toxic waste to appropriate disposal locations is preferred.
  • Must be physically able to perform duties and responsibilities of the classification.
  • Must be able to work with required materials without debilitating irritation to skin, eyes or respiratory system while wearing the required personal protective equipment.
