About the role

  • Cloud Systems Manager overseeing Azure cloud architecture and managing cloud engineering team. Driving innovation and ensuring secure, scalable cloud solutions for optimal IT operations.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the strategic direction of our Azure cloud architecture, ensuring it supports enterprise-wide scalability, security, and performance.
  • Develop and enforce cloud principles, standards, and policies to maintain consistency and reliability across all cloud operations.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design cloud solutions that enable seamless application deployment, performance, and innovation.
  • Drive innovation in cloud design by leveraging automation, infrastructure-as-code, and emerging Azure services to keep our infrastructure cutting-edge.
  • Oversee the performance, availability, and security of Azure-based infrastructure, including virtual networks, firewalls, hybrid connectivity (VPN, ExpressRoute), and core services.
  • Lead cloud cost management and optimization efforts, implementing budgeting and forecasting strategies to maximize value and efficiency.
  • Ensure robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes to maintain uptime and quickly address issues in cloud environments.
  • Manage integrations with on-premises systems, ensuring smooth hybrid operations and secure data flow.
  • Lead and mentor a team of cloud engineers and architects, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture through coaching, skill development, and performance feedback (minimum 3 years of team leadership experience required).
  • Act as a hands-on leader, stepping in to troubleshoot complex cloud issues or support critical tasks when needed to ensure operational continuity.
  • Partner with development teams to understand their requirements and provide cloud infrastructure that supports secure, scalable, and efficient application delivery.
  • Establish and maintain cloud governance frameworks to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations, such as data protection and privacy laws.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits of cloud infrastructure to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities.
  • Define and enforce identity and access management policies, including role-based access controls (RBAC) and data protection strategies, to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging Azure technologies, such as AI-driven operations and advanced automation tools, to enhance cloud performance, security, and agility.
  • Lead initiatives for cloud observability and proactive maintenance to anticipate and resolve issues before they impact operations.
  • Continuously assess cloud architecture for optimization opportunities, ensuring scalability and readiness for future IT and development needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and operations, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure, and at least 3 years in leadership roles managing technical teams.
  • Proven expertise in Azure services, cloud networking, security, identity management, and cost optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with development teams to deliver cloud solutions that support application performance and innovation.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) – with cloud security emphasis
  • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
  • ITIL Foundation Certification – for process and service management alignment.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and project management skills, with a proven ability to mentor teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing, cross-functional security teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating cloud security risks.
  • Availability to respond to security incidents outside of regular business hours as needed.
