About the role

• Engineering Manager at Ship.Cars leading a team of ~18 engineers in Sofia. Responsible for fostering a positive work environment and managing software delivery in the logistics industry.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a cross-functional agile team while fostering a positive work environment and providing mentorship.
• Recruit and retain a strong team of highly motivated software engineers.
• Work in close collaboration with product owners, lead developers, and QA to plan deliveries, manage priorities, and ensure stable and predictable execution.
• Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback and address performance issues where needed.
• Identify and manage risks, developing mitigation plans while also spotting inefficiencies and wasted efforts, and proposing improvements that benefit the team.
• Encourage engineering best practices, so we have a clear direction for improvement.
• Work with the wider leadership team to plan and manage deliveries and report progress against objectives.

Requirements

• Strong leadership, planning and communication skills.
• Strong understanding and experience in applying Agile Frameworks (SCRUM) to different situations.
• 4+ years of experience in engineering management roles, including leading teams of 15+ engineers.
• Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable working with ambiguity and being proactive in solving challenges.
• Positive attitude and ability to take the initiative; self-disciplined, well organized and highly committed with the ability to multitask.
• An experienced leader with a positive reputation and with a strong technical background.
• Previous experience of backend software architectures, preferably a knowledge in Java.
