About the role

  • Manager for financial project management in German programs within a children's rights organization, overseeing budgeting and fund management for various projects.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare project budgets based on program concepts for our German projects
  • Manage and monitor the use of funds (public and private)
  • Prepare and review fund disbursement requests (drawdowns)
  • Prepare interim and final reports
  • Review travel expense reports and invoices
  • Review fee, grant and cooperation agreements and contribute to the financial-relevant sections: fund disbursement procedures, templates, deadlines
  • Monitor and control financial reports and fund drawdowns from partner organisations and grant recipients
  • Maintain databases by recording and updating project data, fund disbursements, and contract data
  • Track donor guidelines for public (e.g., EU or AMIF) and private grants, as well as other standards regarding grant law, the German Federal Budget Code (Bundeshaushaltsordnung), expenditure deadlines, procurement rules, etc.

Requirements

  • University degree in economics, law, public administration, or comparable qualifications/experience
  • Several years of solid professional experience managing project finances in a non-profit organisation, ideally with grant funding experience
  • Basic accounting knowledge and understanding of budgetary and grant law, as well as institutional donor guidelines at EU, federal and state levels (especially EU, AMIF)
  • Strong numerical affinity and confident use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Flexible, positive and solution-oriented mindset
  • High level of initiative, decisiveness and enjoyment in shaping strategic processes
  • Experience using ERP and CRM systems
  • Excellent German and English language skills, both written and spoken
