About the role

  • Mechanical Engineer specializing in vehicle accident reconstruction for Rimkus. Conducting forensic investigations and providing expert testimony for mechanical failures.

Responsibilities

  • Performs forensic assignments within the field of mechanical engineering expertise based on a scope of work and budget prepared by the consultant and agreed upon by the client
  • Investigates how and why an incident occurred and determines whether it was a result of mechanical failure of equipment
  • Inspects sites/products/equipment; performs analysis of commercial and non-commercial equipment; determines cause and origin of damage; performs mechanical engineering analysis and calculations; prepares sketches as required
  • Prepares oral and written reports to document analysis, extent of loss, associated repair scope, and/or recommended remediation steps
  • Provides expert testimony in deposition and trial as required
  • Manages multiple projects and works with other experts as needed

Requirements

  • B.S. Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering degree or equivalent from an accredited program
  • F.E. exam completed
  • P.E. licensure or ability to complete PE license within one year
  • Minimum 5 years of experience, including knowledge of machinery and equipment
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable form of transportation required
