About the role

  • Energy Efficiency Engineer implementing energy-saving projects in Northern Illinois. Collaborating with contractors and customers to improve energy efficiency and sustainability practices.

Responsibilities

  • Review submissions of energy saving upgrade projects, including reports, savings calculations, and project documentation, to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with program requirements.
  • Assist contractors and customers to select appropriate energy efficiency equipment that would qualify for equipment rebates from the utility.
  • Maintain the highest level of quality control for deliverables, demonstrating technical excellence, objectivity, and clarity while maintaining and advancing projects.
  • Communicates, coordinates, and assists project stakeholders and participants including program staff, contractors, and utility customers to help ensure customers are maximizing the benefits of utility programs.
  • Develop and update efficiency measures for the program and support other program enhancing improvements. Support may include completing economic analysis, collaborating with other functional groups, and/or developing calculations to quantify energy impacts of new program measures.
  • Conduct site visits to verify installation and operation of replacement energy efficient equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be located in or willing to relocate to the greater Chicago, IL area within 30 days of acceptance.
  • Must be comfortable travelling in Northern IL.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering preferred).
  • 1-3 years of experience (within the energy efficiency or building efficiency industry preferred).
  • An understanding of electric energy using systems of commercial and industrial facilities including equipment controls and optimization and/or sustainability practices.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and have a personal vehicle to visit customer sites.
  • Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment.
  • Strong proficiency with oral communication, writing, and analytical skills. Planning, coordinating, organization, and self-management in a professional environment a must.

  • The compensation range for the base salary for this position is $75,000 - $90,000.
  • In addition to base pay, employees are eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.
