About the role

  • Director of Engineering responsible for engineering functions and teams at Resource Innovations. Leading best-in-class engineering services for electric and gas utilities and energy end-users.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee engineering functions and teams
  • Ensure Engineering function provides best in class engineering services for contracts
  • Supervise Engineering Managers
  • Support recruitment, development, and resource balancing of Engineering resources
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, technical support, quality control reviews
  • Facilitate creation of processes and tools to ensure consistent and quality deliverables
  • Promote ongoing education to keep engineering team current on emerging technologies
  • Research cost-effective technologies that maintain technical accuracy and improve operational efficiency
  • Maintain high-quality deliverables and communication
  • Support resource planning, aligning staffing with project forecasts and budget constraints
  • Identify and relay client concerns to enhance deliverables and practices
  • Conduct quality control reviews for high-impact projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, mechanical, electrical, building science, or similar
  • Minimum 12 years of experience within energy efficiency, building efficiency industry, demand management, or energy management
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience
  • At least 5 years of hands-on engineering experience in an individual contributor role
  • Excellent attention to detail, writing, interpersonal, training and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams, clients, and time effectively, consistently meeting deadlines and anticipating potential challenges.
  • Exceptional communication skills—listening, oral, written, and presentations—paired with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities and ability to influence outcomes through clear, data-supported dialogue with clients and third parties.
  • Proven expertise in energy calculations and analysis tools and methods
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office, Excel, and other cloud-based computing platforms
  • Willingness to travel as business needs require
