About the role
- Senior Software Engineer working on Red Hat OpenStack Platform packaging and deployment. Collaborating with distributed teams on innovative software development and release processes.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the Red Hat OpenStack Platform packaging, testing, and release process
- Assist in the maintenance of any packages which are part of Red Hat OpenStack Platform or related channels as required
- Assist with bug triage
- Assist with building out infrastructure for both scale out and up of Red Hat OpenStack Platform deployments
- Learning the Red Hat OpenStack Platform release processes and technologies
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
- Experience with Git
- Experience with Python programming
- Experience with Agile Development practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to work in fast paced, dynamic environments
- Ability to work independently
- Passion for open source software development
- Experience using Jira for task management and bug tracking
- Experience with Linux distribution packaging (considered a plus)
- Experience working in release engineering (considered a plus)
- Experience with Puppet and Ansible (considered a plus)
- Experience with CI and CI tools, e.g., Jenkins, Zuul (considered a plus)
- Experience using RPM Package Manager (RPM) (considered a plus)
- Debugging and root cause analysis skills (considered a plus)
- Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux) knowledge (considered a plus)
- Knowledge of containerization technologies like OpenShift, Kubernetes, Podman or Docker (considered a plus)
