Responsibilities

  • Perform Short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies for commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, and generation facilities using SKM, ETAP, and/or Easypower software
  • Applies knowledge of low and medium-voltage switchgear, motor control centers, circuit breakers, panel boards, and disconnects to determine cost-effective mitigation solutions from the results and recommendations of power system studies
  • Develop study reports and communicate results and recommendations to customers
  • Perform data collection activities
  • Develop and/or implement arc flash mitigation designs
  • Interpret new construction drawing packages
  • Develop relay protective setpoints and settings files
  • Develop and/or update equipment control schematics, one-lines, three-lines, and wiring diagrams
  • Working on project teams supporting all quality and project management goals
  • Meeting all project deadlines and supporting the processes and procedures to meet deadlines
  • Maintaining up-to-date technical skills related to the design of electrical substations and protection and control schematics for the electric utility power grid through on-the-job work and formal training
  • Successfully execute small to medium-sized projects with limited oversight
  • Self-manage assigned projects and job cost accountability to perform work within budgeted cost estimates
  • Effectively communicate with other departments and customers to ensure activities are properly coordinated

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited school (Mechanical Engineering degrees accepted for some roles) with a focus on power systems
  • Ability to travel 50-60% of the time
  • Microsoft Office product application
  • Educational experience directly related to working with [medium to high voltage] electricity (preferred)
  • Knowledge of test equipment and tool/wiring usage
  • Must have the ability to work independently, and accurately, and have high attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss technical recommendations with customers
  • Strong computer skills
