About the role
- Data Engineer designing and maintaining data pipelines for CIEE, a philanthropic institution supporting youth development. Collaborating with Data Analysts for data quality and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain data pipelines (ETL/ELT) for data ingestion and transformation
- Implement and maintain data models (star schema) optimized for analytical consumption
- Write and optimize SQL queries for processing large volumes of data
- Develop Python scripts to automate data processes
- Monitor data quality through validations and automated tests
- Collaborate with BI Analysts and Data Scientists to ensure data availability and reliability
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related fields.
- Experience in data engineering or related areas
- Advanced SQL: CTEs, window functions, query optimization, DDL/DML
- Intermediate to advanced Python for data manipulation (pandas, etc.)
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines
- Knowledge of dimensional data modeling (star schema, snowflake schema)
- Understanding of data quality and pipeline testing
- Ability to work autonomously on medium-complexity tasks
- Desired:
- • Experience with cloud data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery or similar)
- • Knowledge of orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster or similar)
- • Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD practices for data
- • Experience with relational and non-relational databases
- • Basic containerization knowledge (Docker)
