About the role

DevOps Engineer supporting data engineering team at payabl. Building infrastructure and CI/CD processes for a global payments platform.

Responsibilities

Building and maintaining our Kubernetes clusters, (not just creating tools and also deploying apps with Helm), but the emphasis is on being able to do this in a code-first way: infrastructure as code.
Work closely with other teams to identify pain points and problems around the platform.
Develop new tools and frameworks to improve data platforms.
Manage CI/CD. Design, develop, and implement CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab.
Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or AWS CloudFormation.
Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure issues using tools like Prometheus, Grafana.
Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.
Participate in code reviews and help teammates with constructive feedback.

At least 5 years of experience with containerization technology (Kubernetes, Docker) and cloud platforms.
Proficiency in provisioning infrastructure and managing configurations with tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or AWS CloudFormation.
Strong knowledge of Data lake services on AWS (Glue, Athena).
Linux experience: troubleshooting, Bash/Python/Perl scripting, familiarity with multiple distributions (Debian, Ubuntu, RHEL).
Experience developing automation for CI/CD pipelines, especially Jenkins.
Good to have Kafka knowledge.
Desire to learn and participate in coaching junior members of the team.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Outstanding attention to details.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
A customer-centric, empathetic mindset with excellent listening skills.
An ability to focus on what counts, creating simple solutions to deliver fast results.
