About the role

  • Mechanical Engineer leading industrial projects in biogas and renewable energy at Orizon. Involvement in conceptual, basic, and detailed engineering for industrial plants.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or actively participate in the conceptual, basic and detailed engineering of biogas, biomethane, natural gas plants and gas systems.
  • Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, line lists, bills of materials, equipment lists and descriptive specifications.
  • Review and validate multidisciplinary documents, ensuring mechanical interface with process, electrical, instrumentation, civil and automation disciplines.
  • Ensure adherence to internal engineering standards, technical codes (ASME, API, ABNT, NR-13 etc.) and safety requirements.
  • Prepare complete technical specifications and scope documents for contracting engineering packages and EPC contractors.
  • Monitor the quality of deliverables from external designers, technically aligning scope versus project needs.
  • Specify, select and analyze the performance of biogas/biomethane/natural gas compressors (screw, reciprocating, centrifugal).
  • Analyze curves, operating maps, efficiency, anti-surge controls and protection criteria.
  • Perform technical alignment of proposals, FAT/SAT, troubleshooting and commissioning support.
  • Design and validate pressure vessels (ASME VIII), filters, heat exchangers, industrial piping (ASME B31.x) and supports.
  • Perform mechanical calculations and structural analyses (stresses, thermal expansion, supports, loads).
  • Prepare and review calculation reports, datasheets and mechanical engineering documents.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations applicable to the gas and waste industry: NR-10, NR-12, NR-13, NR-20, NR-33, NR-35.
  • Work according to the guidelines of the Integrated Management System (SGI).
  • Act as a technical reference in interfaces with Process, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation and Safety Engineering.
  • Conduct risk analyses (HAZOP, HAZID) and mechanical integrity assessments.
  • Oversee mechanical assembly, testing, commissioning and start-up of systems.
  • Generate inspection plans, maintenance plans and technical recommendations for operation.
  • Support failure investigation (RCFA, FMEA).
  • Prepare and align technical-commercial proposals.
  • Conduct technical meetings, audits, FATs and SATs.
  • Contribute to the qualification of strategic suppliers.
  • Organize and review technical documentation, ensuring traceability and compliance.
  • Maintain a database of critical equipment and components.

Requirements

  • Academic Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Postgraduate degree or MBA in Project Engineering, Project Management, Mechanical Equipment or related fields (desirable).
  • Required Experience
  • Strong experience in industrial project engineering, especially in chemical plants, gas, biogas/biomethane, petrochemical, oil & gas or industrial gas.
  • Proficiency with rotating equipment (screw, centrifugal, reciprocating compressors).
  • Robust experience with static equipment (vessels, heat exchangers, piping).
  • Familiarity with ASME, API, ABNT standards, API 618/619/672, ASME VIII, ASME B31.3/8 etc.
  • Experience reviewing engineering documents and multidisciplinary integration.
  • Prior engagement in projects with EPC contractors, external designers or package suppliers.
  • Tools and Software

  • MS Project (desirable).
