About the role
- Research Scientist focusing on drug substance analytics using various techniques at Orion. Collaborating in team processes and regulatory submissions within the Physical Analytical Laboratory in Espoo.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the physical analytics of drug substances and drug products.
- Utilize a wide range of analytical techniques such as XRD, DSC, TGA, DVS, LDP, and SEM.
- Plan and execute studies, interpret and summarize results.
- Draw scientifically sound conclusions and prepare documentation for regulatory submissions.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Guide the work of research assistants in the Physical Analytical Laboratory.
- Develop physical analytical laboratory activities and follow the international development.
- Conduct laboratory work on site in Espoo.
Requirements
- Master’s or preferably doctoral degree in physics, chemistry, pharmacy, or a related field.
- Practical experience in physical analytics and solid‑state characterization.
- Hands‑on experience working with solid, powdered materials.
- Strong knowledge and proven hands‑on use of physical analytical techniques.
- Willingness and ability to conduct regular laboratory work.
- Accurate, reliable, and proactive working style with a “hands‑on” approach.
- Ability to propose practical, science‑based solutions to identified problems.
- Active and constructive participation in team processes and project work.
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in English, with Finnish language skills considered as an advantage.
