Principal Systems Engineer responsible for architecting Azure cloud infrastructure solutions. Leading cloud governance, cost optimization, and mentoring engineering teams at Newrez.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and architecture of complex, scalable, and highly available Azure-based solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust cloud architectures.
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or Azure Resource Manager for automated provisioning and configuration management.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automating infrastructure and application deployments.
Automate routine operational tasks using scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
Enforce security best practices and compliance controls in Azure environments.
Design and implement monitoring solutions to proactively address performance and reliability issues.
Optimize cloud resources for cost efficiency and performance.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineering teams.
Act as a subject matter expert in troubleshooting and resolving complex Azure infrastructure issues.
Participate in on-call rotations for critical incident response and resolution.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud architectures, configurations, and procedures.
Conduct knowledge sharing sessions to enhance team expertise.
Stay current with cloud infrastructure trends and best practices; recommend improvements and new technologies.
Perform related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Proven experience as a Principal Engineer with a focus on Azure cloud solutions
Extensive experience with Azure services (compute, storage, networking, security)
Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tools
In-depth knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
Expertise in designing and implementing security controls in Azure environments
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Azure certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert) preferred
Experience with hybrid cloud and multi-cloud architectures (Azure, AWS, VMware)
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
Knowledge of networking concepts and Azure networking services
Experience with Azure DevOps for collaboration and continuous integration
Familiarity with regulatory compliance and security frameworks
Experience with monitoring and security tools (Azure Monitor, Sentinel, etc.)
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for complex infrastructure issues
Project management and time management capability
High learning agility and ability to integrate new technologies
High degree of professional maturity, integrity, and ability to maintain confidential data.
