About the role
- Designer responsible for design and drafting services that meet utility clients' needs in electrical engineering standards. Creating detailed designs and drawings for various electrical projects in a hybrid workplace setting.
Responsibilities
- The Designer is responsible for design and drafting services that meet the utility client’s requirements and expectations while conforming to appropriate Codes and Standards for the associated project.
- Detailed designs and drawings include: Substation Layouts, Wiring Diagrams, Power & Electrical Distribution, Electrical One-Line Diagrams, Schematics, Interconnection diagrams, Plans-Lighting, Grounding, Power, Heat Tracing, etc., Conduit/Cable Schedules, Electrical Details.
- The Designer should be aware that the design process includes visiting clients’ facilities and performing physical work such as walking, standing, climbing ladders and lifting.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent
- Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical, required
- 3-5 years of substation electrical design/drafting experience & skilled in standard drafting practices
- Knowledge of or proficient in field investigations and measurements
- Familiarity with utility and client-specific standards
- Working knowledge of or familiarity with Microsoft Office products
- Strong attention to detail and performing self-checking of work
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to travel to client sites as needed
