About the role
- Programmer Analyst developing Smart Grid software to improve reliability and efficiency. Collaborating across teams to analyze and maintain applications in a changing energy landscape.
Responsibilities
- Define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software to help the business unit improve reliability, and drive efficiencies.
- Work individually, and as part of a team using best practices in software development methodologies.
- Collaborate with other areas to understand requirements and drive continuous improvement of Smart Grid software applications.
- Support daily system operations within a specific discipline on a continual basis.
- Write, translate, and code software programs and applications consistently to specifications and development standards per specific discipline.
- Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of company applications as necessary.
- Assist in defining software development project plans, including scopes, schedules, and implementation.
- Liaise with network administrators, systems analysts, database administrators, external vendors, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems.
- Develop understanding of relevant system administration tasks including backup/recovery of systems and disaster recovery.
- Design, run and monitor software performance tests for new and existing programs.
Requirements
- Experience working with relational database systems (i.e. Postgres, Oracle, RDS)
- Skilled writing Python code
- Experience using github or some other version control system as part of a team
- Experience containerizing applications using Docker
- Exposure to deploying production applications in an orchestration system such as Docker Swarm, Kubernetes or Hashicorp’s Nomad
- Knowledge related to AI tools for development
- Exposure to advanced AI techniques such as leveraging LLMs, machine learning, neural networks, etc.
- High School Grad / GED
- Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
