About the role

  • Scientific Applications Developer Oceanographer at Mercator Ocean International, focusing on monitoring and validation of oceanography products. Engaging in design, development, and scientific analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain scientific applications for the validation and monitoring of oceanographic products
  • Develop robust, maintainable tools on scientific cloud platforms such as EDITO
  • Produce and analyze quality diagnostics for ocean analyses and forecasts
  • Contribute to quarterly and annual quality assessments and to the preparation of scientific reports
  • Participate in the scientific dissemination of results (workshops, conferences, publications)

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (Bac+5) in oceanography, applied mathematics, physics, or scientific computing
  • 6 months to 2 years of experience in oceanography or in software development applied to ocean sciences
  • Strong command of scientific programming in Python and Fortran, and of numerical analysis
  • Knowledge of physical and/or operational oceanography
  • Proficiency in French and English required
  • Rigour, strong organizational skills, scientific curiosity, and team spirit
