About the role
- Director of Finance leading financial strategy and operations for a fast-growing startup in Canada. Overseeing compliance and building financial infrastructure for global expansion.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team to shape financial strategy, planning, and long-term growth.
- Build financial models and forecasts that guide decision-making and resource allocation.
- Design and implement financial systems, processes, and internal controls that can scale with the business.
- Oversee tax filings, transfer pricing, and cross-border compliance in partnership with external advisors.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and dashboards for the CEO and Board.
- Build and lead a finance function from the ground up, scaling the team as the company grows.
Requirements
- CPA, MBA, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience
- Deep knowledge of accounting principles, corporate finance, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Experience establishing and managing banking relationships and credit facilities
- Demonstrated experience leading SR&ED tax credit processes or similar government incentive programs
- Strong analytical and modeling skills; ability to translate data into strategy
- Fluent in both French and English (spoken and written).
