About the role
- Head of IT Products & Engineering at McMillan Shakespeare overseeing the transformation to product-led engineering. Responsible for strategic direction and execution in AI-assisted development.
Responsibilities
- Define and own a coherent product and platform strategy, aligned to enterprise priorities and approved technology roadmaps.
- Lead platform consolidation, re ‑ platforming, and decommissioning of legacy systems including the reduction of technical debt and duplication through standardisation and simplification.
- Lead high ‑ performing engineering and product teams across application , platform , and integration domains.
- Lead the adoption of AI ‑ assisted software engineering capabilities across design, development, testing, deployment, operations and support.
- Ensure AI tooling is integrated into standard engineering workflows, platforms and developer environments rather than operating as disconnected pilots.
- Ensure platforms and products meet agreed availability, performance, and recoverability expectations.
- Proactively manage technology risk and ensure compliance with internal policies and external obligations.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in a technology or business ‑ related discipline
- Senior leadership experience in software engineering and platform management
- Proven delivery of large ‑ scale platform modernisation or consolidation
- Experience operating in regulated, high ‑ availability environments
- Executive ‑ level communication and stakeholder engagement
