About the role

  • Software Developer in the Scientific Databases and Visualization group at HITS. Developing software for research on liver cancer detection and prevention.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software in collaboration with colleagues and external partners
  • Apply an agile development approach, including automated testing and test-driven development
  • Install and administer the software and related components on SDBV servers
  • Interact with a diverse national and international user base of tools and services, and with colleagues and collaboration partners worldwide

Requirements

  • University degree (university or university of applied sciences) in computer science, electronics, applied physics or a related field
  • Prior experience in web engineering and software implementation
  • Ideally experienced with a convention-over-configuration framework such as Ruby on Rails, or with Spring, Spring MVC, or J2EE
  • Strong ability to understand, extend, and modify other developers' code
  • Fluency in English is required
  • Problem-solving mindset
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to continuously learn and to work as part of an interdisciplinary, multi-site (inter)national team
  • Flexibility and an interest in science
