About the role

  • Tax Auditor Trainee role at the Illinois Department of Employment Security. Engage in training for auditing compliance with Unemployment Insurance Act while developing auditing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in an agency training program to develop knowledge in auditing employers’ books and records
  • Complete classroom-based training and assessments
  • Travel to employer worksites for on-the-job training in performing audits
  • Accept and complete assignments utilizing agency supplied PC and software
  • Attend and participate in meetings

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or an allied field
  • Fifteen (15) credit hours in accounting classes, including at least one audit class (preferred)
  • One (1) year of experience utilizing knowledge of accounting and auditing theories, methods and procedures (preferred)
  • One (1) year of experience examining financial records for discrepancies (preferred)
  • One (1) year of experience working with financial software systems (preferred)
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (preferred)
  • Experience preparing and presenting comprehensive financial reports (preferred)
