About the role
- Principal Consultant Data Architecture leading complex Data and Analytics projects in a hybrid environment. Responsible for designing enterprise data architectures and mentoring technical teams.
Responsibilities
- As Principal Consultant Data Architecture, you act as the senior technical lead in complex data and analytics projects
- You design and take ownership of holistic enterprise data architectures
- You lead technical teams and serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients and internal stakeholders
- You ensure enterprise data and analytics solutions are scalable, secure, and production-ready
- You translate business requirements into robust technical target architectures and actionable delivery roadmaps
- Define and govern target architectures for enterprise data, integration, and analytics in cloud and hybrid environments
- Translate business objectives into scalable, secure, and compliant data solutions
- Lead the design of comprehensive end-to-end data solutions (ingestion, integration, storage, security, processing, analytics, AI enablement)
- Guide and support delivery teams during implementation, rollout, and production readiness
- Serve as the senior technical point of contact for client architects, IT leads, and engineering teams
- Mentor data architects, system architects, and engineers and contribute to best practices and reference architectures
- Provide technical support for presales and solution design activities
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in enterprise data architecture, data integration, data engineering, or analytics
- Proven experience leading enterprise data-architecture workstreams or technical teams
- Strong client-facing and consulting experience in complex enterprise environments
- Deep expertise in modern data architectures, in particular: Data Mesh / Data Fabric / Data Lake / Data Warehouse architectures, principles of modern data-architecture design, batch and streaming integration patterns, data platform, DevOps, deployment and security architectures, analytics and AI-enablement architectures
- Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, e.g.: Azure, AWS or GCP, Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Azure Synapse / Microsoft Fabric
- Excellent SQL skills and experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle)
- Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., Cosmos DB, MongoDB, InfluxDB)
- Solid understanding of API-based and event-driven architectures
- Experience designing and overseeing enterprise data-migration programs (including mapping, transformation rules, data-quality measures, etc.)
- Experience with data pipelines, orchestration, and automation
- Knowledge of CI/CD concepts and production-ready deployments
- Understanding of distributed systems; Docker / Kubernetes are a plus
- Strong understanding of data management and governance principles, in particular: data quality, metadata, lineage, master data management, data management software and tools, security, access, and compliance requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Fluent German (minimum C1) for client communication in the German-speaking market
- Very good English skills
- Willingness to travel for projects
