About the role

  • Data Engineer designing, building, and maintaining data-driven solutions at IFF. Supporting business decision-making with data analytics in the Flavor industry.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain robust data pipelines with strong emphasis on documentation and automated testing for reliability.
  • Collaborate with the team to manage and enhance the Snowflake-based data warehouse solution.
  • Work with stakeholders of varying technical expertise to understand requirements and deliver high-quality data assets.
  • Apply dimensional modeling techniques to support analytics and reporting needs.
  • Demonstrate solid understanding of data modeling principles and optimize queries for performance; familiarity with medallion architecture or similar layered approaches is a plus.
  • Partner with data analysts to understand dashboarding and reporting requirements.
  • Develop structured, accessible data assets to enable custom dashboards in Power BI.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, data quality monitoring, and database organization; help define best practices for a scalable and maintainable data ecosystem.
  • Thrive in a greenfield environment within a structured system; foster openness and teamwork to tackle challenges collectively.
  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and technologies in data engineering and BI; proactively develop new skills to meet evolving business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in SQL, and one or more data related languages such as R or Python.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Adept at code development best practices: GIT, branching strategies, code formatting and a keen eye for standardization
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms (Snowflake preferred), dbt, and orchestration tools like Airflow.
  • Skilled in creating dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
  • Familiarity with chemical industry data standards and regulations, and experience working in Agile development environments.
