Mechanical Staff Engineer responsible for developing next generation satellite structures at ICEYE. Collaborating within a diverse team in the Earth Observation industry while based in Valencia, Spain.
Responsibilities
Developing next generation satellite structures, deployable mechanisms and related hardware
Communicating and collaborating with other engineering teams to achieve common goals
Working directly with manufacturers to optimize designs for manufacturability
Mentoring engineers, showing a noticeable passion for teaching others
Overcoming significant design challenges and taking projects from start to finish successfully
Designing complex mechanical systems, including deployable mechanisms
Balancing quick and efficient design with a process-oriented approach
Excellent communication with directors, team leads, project managers, and stakeholders
Knowledgeable about the impact of design choices on manufacturing costs, time, and weight
Understanding advantages and drawbacks of machinery and modifying processes for success
Requirements
2+ years experience as a technical lead and people lead
Ability to perform hand calculations for fast concept implementation and simple design creation
Experience creating functional mechanical structures using your understanding of thermal design principles, even if suboptimal
CAD Fluency: Proficient in CAD tools like Inventor and SolidWorks
Experience managing projects from proof of concept to delivery
Experience as a mechanical architect (preferred)
Spacecraft system level knowledge (preferred)
Proven experience with satellite structures and validating mechanical platforms for launch (preferred)
Skilled in FEA tools and intuitive in design to minimize unnecessary iterations (preferred)
Proficient from concept to maintenance for both composite and metallic structures (preferred)
Deep understanding of manufacturing processes for both metallic and composite materials, including CFRP (preferred)
Familiar with Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems (preferred)
