- Developing next generation satellite structures, deployable mechanisms and related hardware
- Communicating and collaborating with other engineering teams to achieve common goals
- Working directly with manufacturers to optimize designs for manufacturability
- Mentoring engineers, showing a noticeable passion for teaching others
- Overcoming significant design challenges and taking projects from start to finish successfully
- Designing complex mechanical systems, including deployable mechanisms
- Balancing quick and efficient design with a process-oriented approach
- Excellent communication with directors, team leads, project managers, and stakeholders
- Knowledgeable about the impact of design choices on manufacturing costs, time, and weight
- Understanding advantages and drawbacks of machinery and modifying processes for success
Requirements
- 2+ years experience as a technical lead and people lead
- Ability to perform hand calculations for fast concept implementation and simple design creation
- Experience creating functional mechanical structures using your understanding of thermal design principles, even if suboptimal
- CAD Fluency: Proficient in CAD tools like Inventor and SolidWorks
- Experience managing projects from proof of concept to delivery
- Experience as a mechanical architect (preferred)
- Spacecraft system level knowledge (preferred)
- Proven experience with satellite structures and validating mechanical platforms for launch (preferred)
- Skilled in FEA tools and intuitive in design to minimize unnecessary iterations (preferred)
- Proficient from concept to maintenance for both composite and metallic structures (preferred)
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes for both metallic and composite materials, including CFRP (preferred)
- Familiar with Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems (preferred)
