Senior Project Engineer (HVDC) ensuring safe and timely delivery of engineering projects focused on HVDC systems. Working at Hunterston Converter Station or Eurocentral in the United Kingdom.
Responsibilities
To be an effective member of a team to maximise productivity, quality and effectiveness
Manage personal objectives to ensure the safe and timely delivery of the department work programme incl. Construction, Maintenance, Fault investigation/repair and Defect Management and the support functions of these tasks.
Identify personal resource requirements and feedback into the resource capacity planning.
Proactively manage interfaces with others to ensure effective time management and availability.
Continually maximise productivity through monitoring of work processes and output
Continuously strive to gain knowledge and experience in all areas of business procedures and system operation.
Assist in the statutory obligations of the department by developing solutions and work programmes to carry out repairs and improvements. In particular to environmental regulations.
Develop an in-depth and robust understanding / skill set with relation to HVDC links and their operation including both technical and commercial factors
Strong contribution in the development and delivery of the operation of all current and future HVDC stations including design, commissioning and operation stages.
Develop a wide-ranging skill-set and lead maintenance activities of highly complex interlinked auxiliary systems including HVDC valve cooling, fire, building management, ventilation and air conditioning
Consistently ensure a high level of health and safety is always upheld including safety from the system and contractor management
Proactively contribute towards business and team environmental goals via enhanced operational and management processes
Support on marine contracts and surveys, actively participate in relationships with NGET and current and future JV’s.
Develop multi-disciplined operational skills including both Senior Authorised Person and Protection and Control, with a strong bias towards HVDC systems
Development of future trainees in the HVDC team
Assist in management of the departments Substation O&M Delivery and RIIO Health Checks.
Support other departments within Transmission Operations i.e. Circuits, PCM etc.
Support in the liaison with OCC and operations planning team to schedule and plan outages to deliver the HVDC works throughout the regulatory period.
Update SAP/NAMS as required to ensure data management stays consistent throughout the regulatory period.
Requirements
Working knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures and working practices.
Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation. i.e. Fluorinated Gas Regulations
Awareness of network development policies and procedures.
Customer service skills.
Knowledge of network and business data and network management systems.
General awareness of commercial & regulatory requirements.
A degree of negotiation, communication and people management skills.
Ability to devise solutions to problems/challenges.
Knowledge of transmission plant standards, specifications and commissioning procedures.
Preferably qualified to Degree/ HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
Electrical Engineering HNC or working towards.
HVDC Knowledge/Experience would be advantageous
Computer literacy – e.g. Microsoft Office suite, SAP/NAMS
