Responsibilities
**Provision DNS Infrastructure:** Deploy and configure new authoritative DNS servers and related components to expand global query-handling capacity.
**Scale and Optimize DNS Network:** Continuously manage and scale DNS infrastructure to support increasing traffic while maintaining ultra-high availability and minimal latency.
**Design and Implement DNS Architectures:** Build efficient, resilient DNS systems — including zone distribution models, redundancy strategies, and edge-serving optimizations.
**Monitor and Maintain DNS Operations:** Track DNS performance, analyze query patterns, plan capacity growth, and ensure smooth, accurate, and uninterrupted resolution across all regions.
**Automate DNS Workflows:** Use tools like Ansible and Terraform to automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment processes within the DNS ecosystem.
**Troubleshoot DNS Issues:** Quickly diagnose and resolve DNS-related incidents, maintaining accuracy, stability, and strong SLAs.
**Enhance Performance:** Continuously measure and fine-tune DNS response times, caching behavior, and propagation efficiency to improve overall system performance and scalability.
**Collaborate with Product and Infrastructure Teams:** Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver DNS solutions tailored to product needs and to support new features and customer-facing improvements.
**Drive Innovation:** Explore new technologies, implement improvements, and refine operational workflows to evolve and strengthen the DNS platform.
Requirements
**Linux Expertise:** Advanced experience with Linux operating systems (Debian and Red Hat), with a strong drive to deepen expertise in open-source technologies.
**DNS Systems Proficiency:** Solid hands-on experience with PDNS, MySQL clustering and replication, LMDB backends, DNSSEC, large-scale zone management, Anycast-based DNS delivery, DNS performance tuning, monitoring, automation, and DNS-focused attack mitigation.
**Design and Optimization:** Proven ability to design, implement, and optimize DNS solutions to ensure high availability and efficient zone management.
**Performance Monitoring:** Skilled in monitoring system performance, conducting capacity planning, and ensuring smooth and reliable operation of DNS infrastructure.
**Automation:** Proficient with automation tools such as Ansible to streamline and standardize operational workflows.
**Troubleshooting:** Strong problem-solving skills in diagnosing and resolving DNS-related issues to maintain system stability and integrity.
**Backup and Recovery:** Familiar with backup strategies, disaster recovery planning, and data replication techniques.
**Monitoring and Alerting:** Experience with monitoring tools to track DNS health and performance metrics, including latency and query trends.
