Structural Analysis Engineer supporting development of New Glenn heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle. Performing structural analysis and documentation for design and operational phases.
Responsibilities
Perform analysis on primary and secondary tank structures using classic hand calculations as well as Finite Element Model (FEM) simulations
Support design, manufacturing and operations
Create analysis documentation that is concise and accurate
Perform peer reviews of analysis and reports generated by other team members
Provide structural analysis guidance to design engineers as well as junior structural analysts
Support production issues, ongoing testing and mission operations.
Requirements
B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
5+ years of structural analysis experience with aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle structures or automotive
Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle load path and stress analysis of metallic and/or composite structures
Familiarity with classical aerospace sizing methods (Bruhn, Niu, Roark, etc.)
Knowledge of engineering materials and their applications to achieve optimal structures
Experience with at least two of the following analysis codes: Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, Optistruct, NASGRO
Demonstrated experience using scripting languages (VBA, Matlab, Python, FORTRAN, etc.)
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
