About the role

  • Fluids/Mechanical Test Engineer II working on Blue Origin's lunar permanence projects. Responsible for testing and system integration for safe human spaceflight infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Apply direct experience to fluids and/or thermal component and subsystem test planning and execution
  • Identify test events, needs and equipment required for test
  • Apply experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems
  • Create and review Test Plans, Test Procedures, safety assessments, schematics, and other engineering artifacts
  • Design, procure, and install test support equipment; manage vendors and subcontractors during installation
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate cost, schedule, and technical risks
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing
  • Participate in test readiness reviews, pre- and post-test briefings, and post-test reviews
  • Manage procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns
  • Coordinate test crews, support equipment and vehicle configurations for testing
  • Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations
  • Reduce, analyze, and archive test data
  • Integrate between fluids and thermal subsystems and overall system level vehicle to ensure component level testing is in compliance with overall vehicle test plans

Requirements

  • BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline
  • 2+ years of relevant testing experience including pumps, valves, thermal control elements, propulsion elements, sensors, pneumatic/hydraulic fluids, and/or piping
  • Proven track record of working with test, flight, and safety-critical hardware, tools, and shop equipment
  • Experience with space vehicle component or subsystem testing including structural, vibe, pressure, thermal
  • Experience reading and creating P&ID schematics/layout designs
  • Understand the Test Like You Fly assessment and exception process
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Experience working collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools, LabView, MATLAB, and data management Instrumentation and controls, and data acquisition systems experience
  • Strong safety demeanor and experience, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical operations
