About the role

• Software Engineer (Frontend) developing production-grade applications with Next.js and React at GSS UK. Collaborating with teams to establish best practices and component libraries.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with our Senior Software Engineers to bootstrap our first Next.js/React frontend applications from scratch, ensuring we meet our Software quality standards
• Establish and evolve a reusable component library/design system and documentation to scale consistency across squads
• Help define and enforce frontend best practices and engineering standards
• Partner with backend engineers and solution architects to shape API contracts, data models, and integration patterns that are reliable, performant, and maintainable
• Work closely with Product Owners to provide accurate estimates, communicate trade‑offs and risks, and deliver iteratively with clear milestones
• Champion frontend developer experience and productivity: fast local workflows, tooling, templates, and onboarding documentation

Requirements

• 3+ years professional frontend development of building production grade applications with React
• Next.js experience (App Router, Server Components, API Routes, middleware, SSR/SSG/ISR, data fetching)
• Experienced with TailwindCSS & shadcn/ui for building clean and responsive UIs
• Strong understanding of state management approaches (Redux, Zustand, Recoil, or similar)
• Tooling and DevEx: ESLint & Prettier, Husky/lint-staged, GitHub Actions CI/CD, environment promotion, feature flags, and release automation
• Experience integrating APIs
• Strong communication and ownership skills.
