Responsibilities
Advanced Lead Preliminary Mechanical Design Engineer leads mechanical development for early engine designs within the Preliminary Design organization
Collaborate with systems engineering and technologists across the Future of Flight organization along with members of GE Aerospace’s global engineering team
Conduct design studies of appropriate fidelity and project analysis with minimal guidance, meeting business standards and requirements
Create plans to meet technical needs, solve problems, and report status to leadership
Ensure utilization of business and organization best practices and design practices
Ensure study outcomes are properly documented
Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments
Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degrees in Aeronautical/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering departments from an accredited college or university
8+ years' experience in mechanical engineering position
Strong knowledge in mechanical, gas turbine or propulsion design fundamentals, experience in detail product design
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Systems thinking, ability the simplify complex, uncertain problems to find solutions with positive business outcomes
Experience with Unigraphics NX or similar CAD program
Prior experience performing with global cross-functional teams
Problem analysis and resolution skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
