Mechanical Test Hardware Engineer leading design oversight and requirement definitions for test-enabling hardware. Operating within GE Aerospace to drive safe and effective execution of aviation technology demonstrators.
Responsibilities
Reports to the Hybrid Electric Systems Test Manager and is the accountable owner for the mechanical scope of test-enabling hardware (TEH).
Owns requirements definition through design oversight and commissioning readiness: ensuring the right processes and analyses are completed by partners, approving mechanical design packages, leading reviews, and supporting installation/commissioning.
Focus areas include brackets and mounting solutions, dynamic test rig/fixture structures, guarding and access, and thermal/lube support systems.
Operates as a doer/leader: executes hands-on where appropriate, or delegates and manages delivery through internal groups and suppliers.
Collaborates with hybrid mechanical/electrical component teams, test teams, dynamics/analysis, and the Test Hardware Logistics & Asset Lead (who owns procurement, delivery, and lifecycle).
This role is essential towards the safe and effective execution of GE’s suite of ground and flight technology demonstrator vehicles.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related) from an accredited institution
Experience managing mechanical design efforts for test rigs or industrial equipment
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
Experience leading design reviews and approvals for mounts/fixtures, rig structures, and fluid systems; GD&T and manufacturing readiness
Experience specifying/reviewing mechanical analyses and verifying evidence packages
Configuration control and engineering change processes experience
Safety-first mindset
Supplier/fabrication oversight; practical knowledge of machining, weldments, hose/pipe assemblies, fabrication, and assembly processes
Clear, concise communicator; drives cross-functional alignment and timely decisions
Project planning and risk management; comfortable operating in fast-moving and ambiguous test environment
