About the role

  • Americas Customs Operations Leader at GE Aerospace managing Customs operations across USA, MX, BR, and CA. Leading a region operations team and ensuring compliance with Customs processes.

Responsibilities

  • Operate within a global model and execute the strategy for Customs operations in the region
  • Ensure the pre-declaration review is performed including confirmation that valuation, classification, country of origin and any applicable special program documentation is complete before an import or export occurs
  • Work with approved agents to support daily customs clearances and own shipment issue resolution
  • Ensure there are trained personnel supporting the Customs activities in the region
  • Duty mitigation with the extensive LEAN understanding
  • Identify Customs risks areas and develop actionable plans and procedures to mitigate those risks
  • Evaluate internal controls and drive implementation of recommended improvement plans
  • Prepare periodic reports and metrics on duty, quality, savings, opportunities, risks, accomplishments and value creation
  • Lead Regional Customs Councils
  • Lead business level risk reviews and action plans for risk reduction
  • Manage local Customs agency relationships
  • Respond to Internal/External requests & investigations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Customs Processes
  • US Customs Broker License Preferred
  • Advanced degree from accredited university
  • Wing to wing expertise across customs processes
  • Demonstrated Compliance mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to use knowledge, experience and instinct to make accurate and timely decisions
  • Demonstrated ability of working with all levels of internal and external organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to implement simple, fast and non-bureaucratic process improvements
  • Experience in working with global teams and demonstrates a global mindset
