About the role
- Join Fraunhofer as a Student Assistant 3D Web Developer, advancing a generative design platform. Collaborate closely with engineers and designers on innovative web-based solutions.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the team to further develop our web-based 3D editor and implement interactive visual features
- Develop reusable components in TypeScript and React, using Three.js (React-Three-Fiber)
- Work closely with engineers and designers to design intuitive editing and transformation tools
- Apply analytical and mathematical skills to solve spatial and visual interaction problems
- Write clean, maintainable code and optimize the editor's performance
- Explore new ideas and technologies to improve the usability of our product
Requirements
- Enrolled student (B.Sc./M.Sc.) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a comparable degree program at a university in Berlin or Brandenburg
- Solid knowledge of React and TypeScript/JavaScript
- Good understanding of RESTful APIs, relational databases, and state management (e.g., Zustand, Redux)
- Practical experience or strong interest in Three.js and React-Three-Fiber
- Familiarity with at least one React UI library (e.g., MUI, Chakra UI, or similar)
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and refactoring skills
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, collaborative startup environment where new ideas are welcome
- Experience with 3D/CAD tools (e.g., Blender, Rhino, AutoCAD), UI/UX, or game development
- Fluent English, spoken and written; German is a plus but not required
- Willingness to work on-site at least 3 days per week at the Fraunhofer HHI Accelerator, Silicon Allee (Berlin)
