About the role

  • Develop and maintain life insurance policy IT applications from technical conception through testing and deployment. Work in a Windows/Unix client–server environment using OpenEdge and modern programming languages (e.g. C#, C++, Java, VB).

Responsibilities

  • Planning, technical conception, development, configuration and maintenance of IT applications, especially in the area of life insurance policy systems
  • Review and analysis of requirements and change requests for IT applications
  • Development of software implementation plans and coordination with relevant stakeholders
  • Design and modelling of IT functions and configuration of the respective IT applications
  • Programming and documentation of software solutions in the OpenEdge environment according to requirements and integration into existing IT application structures
  • Design of test scenarios and test cases to ensure software quality
  • Set-up of test infrastructure and execution of tests
  • Documentation of test results and management of incidents/defects
  • Maintenance and optimization of IT applications and existing systems in a client/server environment (Windows, Unix)
  • Liaison with external providers
  • Support of IT projects and initiatives

Requirements

  • University degree in Information Technology (B.Sc. or M.Sc.) with a focus on Software Engineering
  • 2–4 years’ professional experience as a Software Engineer / IT Developer
  • Experience with relational databases; knowledge of Progress is preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in at least one modern programming language/development environment (e.g. C#, C++, Java, VB; experience with 4GL systems is a plus)
  • Experience in Windows environments (Windows 10, Citrix); ideally also experience with Unix/Linux
  • Fluent German and excellent English language skills; French is considered an important asset
  • Positive attitude; reliable, dynamic, detail-oriented and well organised; able to work effectively, rigorously, autonomously and systematically
  • Good communication skills, personal responsibility, team spirit and willingness to learn
