About the role

  • Feature Engineer for BlueCruise driving assistance technology at Ford. Leading upgrades and enhancements for Adaptive Cruise Control and ensuring system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and refinement of use cases and functional level requirements & targets for Adaptive Cruise Control.
  • Lead and support upgrades and enhancements to Adaptive Cruise Control, by working closely with team members on modeling changes, regression testing, test vector development and support, data review, issue identification, and supplier interaction.
  • Lead and support validation and verification of upgrades and enhancements to Adaptive Cruise Control, including in-vehicle validation.
  • Support replay and bench testing of algorithms to assess & improve performance of Adaptive Cruise Control.
  • Support feature model delivery to meet software delivery & program timing.
  • Ensure system design, functional safety, and other deliverables allow for seamless integration with existing features and provide a thrilling user experience.
  • Lead and support the development and refinement of design validation methods for ensuring proper feature-level performance across a variety of environmental and cross-carline noise factors.
  • Support sign off of feature level performance, particularly first vehicle line application.
  • Support the development of data analysis techniques and methods from data generated by both track and real-world validation methods to ensure feature achieves the desired specifications.
  • Closely coordinate with feature development engineers to support execution of design verification plans to ensure proper feature-level performance.
  • Support the planning and execution of real-world evaluations to identify system problems and issues.
  • Support and coordinate root-cause analysis with internal and external suppliers to ensure delivered system thrills our customers with the user experience.
  • Support Integration and model configuration, and other software packages with a variety of production and other in situ hardware to enable pre-production feature-level verification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering, or related field
  • 1 year MATLAB/Simulink modeling experience in a professional or educational setting, in any combination.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Controls, Computer, or Software Engineering. (even better)
  • Experience with ANY of the following areas: Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Systems, Lane Keeping or Lane Centering Systems. (even better)
  • Experience with computer vision & RADAR tracking of humans, vehicles, static roadway obstacles or other typical road objects. (even better)
  • Experience with computer vision detection & tracking of signs, lights, lanes and other key artifacts. (even better)
  • Understanding of embedded hardware and software design. (even better)
  • Experience reviewing, categorizing, and analyzing field data to determine error states / failure modes. (even better)
  • Experience developing, conducting, observing, and reporting on statistically relevant experimentation / verification methods across the global population. (even better)
  • Experience with MobilEye EyeQ technology (even better)
  • Experience with model-based design methods in Simulink for creation/development and enhancement of current / new features. (even better)
  • Understanding of Kalman filtering, vehicle dynamics, linear & nonlinear control methods. (even better)
  • Software engineering & algorithm development experience. Any development time in any language (C, C++, Python, MATLAB, etc.) (even better)
  • Integration of development hardware and software into vehicles, including equipment installation and software flashing. (even better)
  • Developing and conducting laboratory and vehicle tests, data collection, and analysis. (even better)
