About the role

  • Quality Assurance Technician supporting honey trading operations by verifying product compliance and managing documentation. Collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to resolve quality issues.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality reviews and verification checks of bee products, ensuring they meet internal and external specifications and requirements as well as regulatory standards.
  • Assess and document non-compliant product, coordinate holds or rejections when necessary, and communicate outcomes to Traders and Logistics teams
  • Lead root cause investigations with suppliers when quality issues arise; support implementation of corrective actions and preventive measures
  • Review supplier documentation including for example Certificates of Analysis, specification sheets, certifications…
  • Ensure accurate completion, filing, and maintenance of quality documentation including COAs, product specs, and traceability records
  • Preparing product samples required for external analyses purposes. customer evaluations, product development…
  • Enter and track quality related data in internal systems to support visibility and decision making
  • Assist in updating SOPs, quality manuals, and related documentation with regulatory changes, and process improvements
  • Conduct traceability activities and participate in mock recall exercises to ensure readiness and compliance
  • Collaborate with Logistics, Traders, customers and suppliers to resolve quality issues
  • Monitor supplier performance and escalate recurring quality issues to the Quality Control Supervisor
  • Stay up to date on food safety regulations, CFIA/FDA requirements, and industry standards related to the products traded by participating in possible meetings.
  • Provide support for customer/supplier/warehouse audits or quality related inquiries, including sampling at various locations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a food environment, ideally within trading, importing, exporting, procurement, distribution, or QA
  • Post Secondary education in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related food discipline
  • Strong understanding of HACCP principles and food safety fundamentals
  • Knowledge of Governmental agencies regulatory requirements (CFIA/FDA)
  • Strong computer skills including comfort with data entry and documentation management
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across internal and external teams.
  • Strong English skills are required and French is an asset.
  • High level of attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
