About the role

• Civil Engineering Student (Co-op) assisting Municipal Infrastructure team with project support and CAD work. Gaining practical experience and mentorship in engineering concepts and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of CAD drawings for real municipal infrastructure projects, including watermain, sanitary, stormwater, roads, and grading
• Create and update plans, profiles, cross-sections, details, schedules, and quantity take-offs
• Learn how projects come together by coordinating with designers, engineers, project managers, and CAD staff
• Apply review comments and complete basic drawing checks to understand quality and design standards
• Assist with quantity take-offs and cost estimating to build commercial and technical awareness
• Help organize drawings and project files using professional documentation workflows
• Work closely with senior team members to turn engineering concepts into clear, buildable drawings
• Participate in team meetings and gain exposure to real project discussions and decision-making

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or related post-secondary program (co-op or WIL eligible)
• Interest in learning AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Strong computer skills, including Excel and Word; eager to learn CAD standards
• Interest in municipal infrastructure and how engineering impacts communities
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and a willingness to learn
• Comfortable communicating in a team environment, both verbally and in writing
• Able to balance multiple tasks and deadlines with support from senior staff
• Holds a valid Ontario driver’s license and has access to a vehicle for site visits and meetings
