About the role
- Staff DevOps Engineer leading a team at Exasol. Overseeing a secure, scalable Linux-based build infrastructure and driving design of modern CI/CD pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with development, quality engineering, and IT teams to design, implement, and maintain a scalable, secure, and high-availability Linux-based build and test infrastructure
- Work with development and testing teams to maintain and improve the test orchestration and scheduling tool chain
- Proactively optimize system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise to ensure smooth operations
- Handle system updates, upgrades, and patch management to keep the environment secure and up to date
- Set up monitoring tools to track system performance, application metrics, and infrastructure health
- Utilize configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Salt) to automate provisioning and installations
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
Requirements
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. This role needs to align priorities with development teams and IT department, and this requires active stakeholder engagement.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of professional experience as a DevOps Engineer
- 2+ years managing other engineers and high impact projects
- Strong proficiency in Linux system administration and shell scripting
- Strong proficiency in Python development
- Proficient in configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Salt)
- Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Nomad)
- Experience with monitoring and alerting tools
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with C++ is a plus
- Experience with workload manager software (Nomad, Slurm, etc.) is a plus
- Experience with cloud technology is a plus (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience with OpenStack is a plus
- Fluent in English
