About the role

  • Associate Utility Designer developing CAD designs in support of electric substation projects for Eversource Energy. Collaborating with engineers and construction teams to deliver design packages on schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Develop CAD designs based on field investigations, project scope, and engineering criteria
  • Develop detailed design packages for projects through discussions with engineers and construction personnel
  • Develop site development designs including existing conditions plans and drainage systems
  • Develop physical design drawings associated with equipment arrangements and lightning protection
  • Develop wiring drawings based on P&C schematics and 1-Lines
  • Coordinate design effort with other design disciplines and project team members
  • Provide informal guidance to CAD Technicians and maintain bills of materials
  • Attend field visits with Engineering during the design process

Requirements

  • Associate of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology, or Associate Degree in CAD Technology
  • 0 to 2 years of related utility design or technical experience
  • Possesses conceptual knowledge of theories, practices & procedures within a specific engineering discipline
  • CAD and design skills sufficient to develop and modify substation drawings
  • General knowledge of electrical systems and components; mechanical systems and components; civil, structural, and architectural components; land management; survey or cartography.
  • Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
