About the role

  • **What will you do?**
  • Work on project teams for a wide range of projects from small to large-size projects with diverse levels of complexity, from pursuit stage to the end of project life-cycle.
  • Working on your own or with a small team, lead the execution of small to medium sized structural projects, with particular emphasis placed on the renovation of healthcare and other institutional projects.
  • Act as Engineer of Record for small projects from conceptual design to final completion.
  • Perform site assessments and prepare evaluation reports.
  • Participate in client meetings facilitating solutions to design issues and challenges and providing status updates.
  • Conduct review and coordination of the architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural drawings.
  • Structural engineering calculations for all structural components including columns, beams, slabs, foundations, and lateral systems, as well as assessment and strengthening of existing structures.
  • Design and engineering using materials such as structural steel, concrete, masonry, cold formed structural steel, and wood.
  • Work to assemble and coordinate engineering drawings and contract documents in collaboration with our BIM technologists and other members of the engineering team.
  • Conduct field reviews and other contract administrative duties.
  • Additional opportunities that may be available within this role, depending on the applicant, include:
  • Manage the project financials for projects including budgeting, invoicing, and resource scheduling.
  • Assisting the Healthcare Sector Leader in writing proposals for new work.

Requirements

  • **What do you need to succeed?**
  • An engineering degree with a focus on civil and structural engineering, coupled with 4-8 years of professional experience in the AEC industry.
  • Professional engineering status in the Province of Alberta.
  • Knowledge of the appropriate building codes.
  • Strong project management capability with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.
  • Must have a working knowledge and ability to use programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel and structural analysis software (SAP2000, RAM, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to work with people at all levels including project stakeholders and clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and deliverables on an ongoing basis.
