About the role
- Telecom Project Designer creating outside plant telecommunications designs for connectivity across Canada. Collaborating with teams to deliver innovative solutions and achieve project success.
Responsibilities
- Create outside plant telecommunications designs including civil, cable, and pole line designs for fiber networks (GPON/FTTP), copper, coax cable, and HFC systems
- Coordinate and manage projects from planning to completion, including engineering, design, data analytics, field data collection, and utility construction
- Assist with or lead the preparation of quotes, reviewing SOWs, and reaching consensus with clients on deliverables and expectations
- Facilitate communications with customers to prepare specifications, explain proposals, and present findings
- Perform Professional Line Assignments (PLA) and apply industry standards and specifications to ensure high-quality design outputs
- Support financial reporting, forecasting, and resource allocation while mentoring junior team members to ensure project success
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience facilitating successful project delivery, team coordination, or management in telecommunications or similar technical domains
- Experience with Professional Line Assignment using AutoCAD and Spatial Net
- University/College/Technical School Graduate or equivalent combination of experience and training; telecommunications or engineering background preferred
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Spatial Net, understanding of OSP design methods including GPON, FTTx, Building Entrances, MDU, Civil, Copper, Pole Lines, and Feeder Fibre
- Ability to plan projects, identify risks, manage ongoing projects, and create comprehensive status reports
- Strong ability to communicate professionally with all stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and team members
- Well-organized, time-conscious, and results-focused with demonstrated ability to break down problems into manageable segments
- Capacity to bounce back from challenges and adjust course
