About the role
- Lead Engineering Specialist managing technical aspects of utility-scale power generation projects including solar, wind, and battery storage. Oversee high-voltage electrical systems and ensure quality of renewable energy infrastructures.
Responsibilities
- lead the execution aspects of design, construction, and commissioning
- support the development of Generator Interconnection Agreement (GIA)
- review and optimize HV/MV substation, collection, transmission line, and equipment specifications
- conduct or review power system studies
- ensure all designs align with applicable codes, standards and company specifications
- act as technical interface for the project between internal teams, external consultants, EPC contractors, equipment suppliers and equipment vendors
- aid in the procurement process for HV equipment
- provide expert technical support during the construction and commissioning phases
- actively contribute to the project reporting & key achievements tracking
Requirements
- University degree in Engineering, registered as a PE (US) or P.Eng. (Canada)
- minimum 8 years, preferred 10-15+ years of progressively increasing technical and informal/functional leadership experience
- directly related experience in utility scale power systems electrical design, integration and interconnection in a variety of North American ISOs
- collaborative value-based attitude, balancing technical with cost, schedule, and full lifecycle asset considerations
- effective communication skills to lead meetings with internal and external partners
- valid drivers' license, which will be verified with a motor vehicle check prior to hire
