About the role

  • Competitive Intelligence Consultant providing analysis and recommendations for Caterpillar Construction and Rental teams. Involves management of competitors' insights and strategic market analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Competitive Intelligence Strategy Manager in the systematic collection, evaluation, and communication of competitive marketing intelligence required for targeted business intelligence projects which Caterpillar business teams or external customers need to make their business decisions and support business strategies.
  • Managing all aspects of competitor’s landscape and business insight for Cat Rental team, particularly with Dealer Growth Plans
  • Regular communication with the Caterpillar rental leadership team to provide information regarding key current and new competitors, industry themes and global market conditions
  • Collection and analysis of the actions, capabilities, and strategies of competitive firms with regular assessment of their impact on Caterpillar Rental
  • Providing analysis of competitors’ financial results and dashboard for Caterpillar Rental team
  • Participating in presentation of competitors’ business insight information to Caterpillar Rental and dealer conference meetings
  • Providing analysis support for Caterpillar Construction Industries Quarterly Business Review meeting
  • Providing quarterly competitor earnings reports (strategic company pulses) for Caterpillar Construction Industries and Rental competitors
  • Participating in global tradeshows including ConExpo, Bauma, American Rental Association, and European Rental Association
  • Providing analysis for ad-hoc and special competitors’ request from Executive Office and Caterpillar Construction Industries leadership team

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (Engineer, Marketing, Financing, Business Administration and Accounting etc.) with 3-5 years related experience.
  • Analytical Thinking: Skills and ability to draw insight from diverse sources and broad/ambiguous data sets.
  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; strong written and oral communication skills, including capability in developing and delivering presentation material for executive management.
  • Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of “big picture” thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
