Responsibilities
Conduct security assessments by simulating cyberattacks on networks, systems, and applications to identify vulnerabilities using both automated tools and manual techniques
Plan and perform black-box, white-box, or gray-box penetration tests, emulating real-world attack scenarios to evaluate system resilience
Create detailed reports outlining discovered vulnerabilities, risk levels, and remediation strategies, and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Advise on patches, configuration changes, and architectural adjustments to mitigate risks
Collaborate with IT and development teams to implement fixes
Continuously update knowledge of emerging threats, exploits, and security tools
Write automation scripts to replicate attack scenarios or streamline testing processes
Provide training on security awareness, including social engineering tactics and best practices
Requirements
Degree in Computer Science or comparable
7+ years in a similar role in penetration testing
Experience with scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell
Knowledge of secure code review principles
Solid understanding of common vulnerabilities and attack vectors (e.g., SQL injection, XSS, CSRF, etc.)
Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, etc.) and architectures
Proficiency with common penetration testing tools such as Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap, Wireshark, and Nessus
Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Fluency in English and willingness to work in Dutch-speaking teams
